The easiest way to ruin a cigar is by cutting too much off. To prevent that from happening, this cutter comes with a backing on one side that guarantees you will only remove the small amount required to open the cigar. The stainless steel blades offer a good cut, however the cutter will not last as long as some of the more premium offerings. A great option for those new to cigars or those who have a tendency to have their cigars unravel on them. The only drawback, is that with tapered cigars it will require multiple cuts which is not ideal. The cutter will accommodate cigars up to about a 64 Ring size.
